TV Palooza: Fall Shows Worth Blogging About

retro-tvAhhh. Nothing like the sweet smell of a new Fall season chock full of shows. Welcoming back old friends, making new ones, the excitement, the anticipation…come to think of it, this must be how some people feel about school, or sports—but in any event, it doesn’t get much better than this.

My television viewing behavior is different than most, because I usually watch shows online and I rarely watch in real time. This makes it difficult to stumble upon a new show. I really have to seek it out, either because I’ve read about it or someone has told me that I have to see it. And because I have so many shows that I am committed to (a commitment I take very seriously), I have to be very discerning about adding a new one to the roster. That’s why this fall’s fresh batch of programming has really thrown me for a loop. There are so many great shows!

If you haven’t already, you MUST check out Glee (not your daughter’s High School Musical), Modern Family (I challenge you not to laugh out loud) and Flash Forward (super suspenseful and addictive). And if you’re not above second chances, you should catch up on the new season of Parks and Recreation. They really came back swinging this season.

By now, we’ve seen a few episodes of the new season and I certainly have my favorites, but I am dying to know which shows have won you over (and a spot in your DVR). What new shows have you discovered? What returning shows are you most excited about?

  1. My fave new show is Glee! It’s such a feel good show. I’m really excited about Ugly Betty coming back next week, and I have to admit…I watch the Real Housewives series on Bravo more than I probably should! :)

  2. I’m addicted to HOUSE and the two-hour season opener didn’t disappoint. What’s not to love about the grouchy, nasty, brilliant doc? Parks and Recreation was laugh out loud and so was Modern Family. I’m afraid I might be watching more TV this season!

  3. I too love Glee- it just makes me happy. America’s Next Top Model is a train wreck that I seem to have to catch up on every once and a while…I mean, knowing how to “smize” really is important, and a great skill for interviewing. The Office, Mad Men, and Curb Your Enthusiasm are other favorites. Now, if they would just bring back Arrested Development I would be over the moon! (I have never said “over the moon” before…)

  4. Lisa- it’s like we are tv soul mates… Glee, Modern Family and Flash Foward are my 3 fav new tv shows… I am also thoroughly enjoying Community as well!

  5. I love Glee too!! Also, I have to set the DVR to Flash Forward and Modern Family too! As far as returns, Mad Men and Gossip Girl always keep me entertained!

  6. FlashForward is so good, I really hope it stays on the air until at least some mysteries are solved.

  7. LOVE Glee, Modern Family and Community. Love that these new sitcomes are funny, smart, and filled with talented actors – some old and familiar, and other new and exciting!

  8. I LOVE Glee! Actually, my cousin got me to tune into the show on her own personal blog and I am now completely hooked. It is such classic and clean humor — totally my style! I have been told numerous times that “Modern Family” is a must see this year too. I just set my DVR to catch it this week :)
