1. It’s COOOOOLD Out!

A great book for the new year (with my favorite subtitle in recent memory), The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun, hit number 2 on the Times Bestseller List. Gretchen Rubin already had a pretty good life, but was suffering from “midlife malaise,” and so decided to do something about it. “I wanted to change my life without changing my life, by finding more happiness in my own kitchen.” Rubin also has a blog where you can join a happiness challenge for 2010.

I’m glad to see her looking and sounding happy, even if it’s for a superficial minute. And I’m not the only one: Erica did a great Beauty Coach on hair extensions because of it.

4. Kid Stuck Behind the Couch

A little in the vein of “David after Dentist” in that you wonder why the parents thought it was a good idea to tape it, but when the boy says “thank you for saving me,” it’s hard for your heart not to melt a little.

Think warm thoughts until next week!
