The Golden Globes are this Sunday and there are 18 beautiful women nominated in the Best Actress category for movies and television (Sandra and Meryl are nominated twice). In preparation, I’ve chosen my favorite red carpet moments for all the lovely ladies.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical
Toni Collette, United States of Tara
Nominated for her role as a woman with multiple personalities, Toni followed her glamorous side at last year’s Emmy’s with this red embroidered organza strapless Monique Lhuillier gown.
Courtney Cox, Cougar Town
The sexy black plunging Dior dress that Courtney wore to the 2003 Golden Globes would be perfect if she was a real cougar and not married to David Arquette.
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie
Nominated for her role as Carmela Soprano in 2007, Edie’s Randi Rahm black sheath with floral appliqué didn’t land her on the best-dressed list but I thought she looked fabulous!
Tina Fey, 30 Rock
Funny lady Tina chose a flattering black David Meister dress to the Emmy awards in 2008.
Lea Michele, Glee
Lea seems to opt for fun, short dresses for special events. I loved the House of Lavande cherry red dress she wore to last week’s People’s Choice Awards.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama
Glenn Close, Damages
Calm, cool and classy, Glenn showed off some skin with this Zac Posen dress at last year’s Emmys.
January Jones, Mad Men
January was ultra chic at last years Emmy awards in Atelier Versace. I loved the superhero-like bodice and long train.
Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife
I’m not always a fan of Julianna’s choices but I thought she looked stunning here in the fall of 2008 in a Narciso Rodriguez gown.
Anna Paquin, True Blood
I recently became a fan of Anna’s acting (after catching up on 2 seasons of True Blood in 3 days) but I have yet to become a fan of Anna’s fashion choices. I did think she looked good at last year’s awards in a simple purple Herve L. Leroux dress. I’m hoping she wins the award again and wins me over with a killer dress.
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer
Brown isn’t a popular color for award shows gowns but I really liked Kyra choice at the 2006 Golden Globes to wear this Bottega Veneta dress. Extra points for the of-the-moment double belt.
Check in tomorrow when I list my favorite red carpet moments for the ladies nominated in the movie category!
