Do Good: We’re Looking For Amazing Volunteers!

April 19, 2010 at 9:52 am , by

Do you know a woman who goes the extra mile for a worthy cause? Ladies’ Home Journal and WE Volunteer are looking for outstanding volunteers for our first annual WE Do Good Awards. All you need to do is tell us how this special woman has given back to her community and has inspired others to do the same. Does she travel to help people in need in other countries? Did she start a charity organization to benefit a cause that’s close to her heart? Or maybe she’s a busy mom who finds the time to volunteer in her community and get her whole family involved.

If you know an amazing woman who deserves recognition for her efforts, nominate her today! She could win one of three great prize packages that will give her a special treat and help her give back, plus a trip to New York City for our awards event, features in LHJ magazine and on WEVolunteer.tv, and a subscription to LHJ.

  1. My friend Lynn Buquoi is the most giving person I know. She is a single mom and nurse, works all day, takes care of her children and grandchild but still finds time to help others.Lynn is a Sunday school teacher, VBS leader, Women’s Ministry leader and started a Prodigal child class. Every time there is an opportunity to help a group or individual in our community she is there. She is working on starting a food pantry out of her home to help others in need even though she barely makes enough for her family. I could go on for hours about Lynn and all that she does for others but never for herself. Please consider her for your award and if you need to know more about her I would be happy to give that information. I love my friend very much, she is special to me, my husband and my children.

  2. Thanks a lot for this article! Really interesting.

  3. I would like to nominate Milly Vaughn, Cleburne TX. She has worked tirelessly for the Eastside Community Center for about 20 years. May be more. I can get the number, but I don’t have it now. She works with the kids, with adults, she does whatever needs to be done. She has also worked with other organizations in town. I don’t know her very well, but I know of her. She is a well known, well respected person in town.

  4. I read in the LHJ July that the nominations for 2011 – Second Annual LHG WE Volunteer Awards. However, I don’t see anything on this website about the 2011 award. When will nominations be open?

  5. I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are mistaken. Let’s discuss.
