Shopping with Sue…at American Eagle

Confession time: I’m 39 years old and I shop at American Eagle. I know, I know. You thought that anyone who owned property was too old to shop there, right? Well, my friend. You are wrong. And you’re missing out.
My love affair with AE began a few years ago when I was hunting for Boyfriend Jeans. They were the newest look in denim (at the time) and I could not find a pair that didn’t make me look like…well, a boy. Sure, the premium denim lines were carrying them but if you know me, you know that I don’t buy $200 jeans. My hunt brought me to American Eagle, where I tried the Boycut style. Angels sang and the glow of heaven was shining down in that fitting room that day. (And that’s saying a lot. Jeans + Fitting Room = Tears, usually.) As if that wasn’t enough, they also made them in white the following spring. Needless to say, I’ve been a fan ever since. (Unfortunately, the boyfriend look is on the wane so AE has moved on but – great news! – they make amazing skinnies!)
The jewelry has always been one of my favorite things about AE. It’s cute and fun and cheap. I mean, Crazy Cheap! Like, under-$20-and-they’re-usually-having-a-buy-one-get-one-50%-off-sale cheap. And since summertime jewelry should be cute and fun and cheap, I’ve been stocking up. Friendship bracelets, feather necklaces, and studded earrings – I just can’t get enough. No joke – the minute I finish writing this, I’m going online to buy the necklace pictured here. It’s only $19.50!
So, don’t think your too old for AE! Me? I’ll be shopping in there with the high school kids until they kick me out!
And I should mention that if you are old enough to have fashionable little offspring – make sure to check out 77 Kids, the childrenswear line from American Eagle. It’s where I got my daughter her first pair of boyfriend jeans! Naturally…
