Jillian Harris Blogs The Bachelorette: Episode 2

First things first: Joe, call me!

Well, I said it before and I really stand by it now—this season of The Bachelorette is going to be much different and it certainly is. Emily has such a HUGE invested interest in this journey, and I really do believe that is true for her more than it was for any other woman that’s been the bachelorette. That being said, I do think it’s also the reason that this season is off to a slow start.

At the risk of making myself look, well, less classy, my season was more about fun, goofing around, more cocktails and less pressure. All I had to look for was a connection, and I don’t envy all of the extra details Emily has to cover. But maybe that’s going to be the key for her to find a successful relationship in the end.

For several seasons now people have complained that they won’t watch next season of the show because there’s too much drama and not enough of the “love connection.” Well, I think you guys are getting it this time around, so I don’t want to hear any peeps if you’re finding it boring. There’s a reason Jersey Shore is successful!

At the beginning of this season I felt like there were just a bunch of boys on the roster; no one who seemed quite ready for our Emily. But after the second episode I see a little light. I was also a little envious—Emily got the chance to have a big part of her life involved in this process. I think that makes for a very levelheaded bachelorette. Filming in her hometown, having her friends and her daughter helping her along, and getting to hang in her home are all things that will lend to some good decisions with the boys. Otherwise, it’s like vacation love, and we’ve all been there before! #fail :)

Here are my favorites so far: Arie, Charlie (so adorable) and the biology teacher, Aaron. My least favorite thing? Emily’s wardrobe! I hate to say it because I love her style, but so far I haven’t been a huge fan of her dresses. She really is so beautiful in her regular everyday clothes.

And as for Joe—the hockey hair, plaid shirt, natural laugh and the fact that he’s so well articulated? He’s my kind of guy! :)

Until next week,

Jillian

  2. I must say I agree with almost everything you wrote. Especially the wardrobe comment about Emily. Maybe she needs a guest appearance from Jillian Harris to help her pick a better formal wardrobe.
I’m thinking Arie will get down on one knee at the end of this… I know its early but I really like their connection.

  3. Nicely written Jillian. I am an avid bachelorette/bachelor viewer and i have to say this is one of the most boring seasons so far. Yours is still my favourite as there was so much fun going on all the time. I don’t begrudge Emily being on the show and being a mother , I am just after some juicy entertainment and I am not getting it with Emily’s season. Her fashion sense is nowhere near yours and she looks so much older than she really is. I will give it one more episode to see if I will continue watching.

  4. I totally agree with everything you’ve said Jillian! I’m a bigger fan of the bachelorette (probably because there are more guys to oggle at but that’s a moot point) and I love Emily’s charm and her commitment to finding somebody special for her AND her daughter. I think if fans are patient they’ll get what they want but from the previews, I think there will be a little drama too.

My faves are Arie, Jef and Charlie! Did you know that Aaron is from Canada? At least that’s what the description says on the ABC website…Anywho, can’t wait to see what you have to say next!

  5. the ‘classy’ thing is BS. She goes on a TV dating show just like any one. I hate how Emily emphasizes “classy” thing. Way to put other bachelorettes before her down. I rather see someone like Jillian, Ashley who are fearless and do not give a %^&# what other people think and let their emotions flow than that emotionless barbie doll facade.

ABC treated their female leads like dirt in the past, starting with Deanna, Jillian, Ali then Ashley got the worst treatment of all. ABC exposed all of your weaknesses and insecurities and they choose to cover up for Emily and put a halo above her head. BS. Of course an average viewer cannot see that. But you know what Jillian, we know women like you, Ashley and Ali are the ones with real potential to make it on your own, the ones with real talent, be it academic talent and artistic talent. Emily has none of these. Looks are all she has and sadly the only thing she has going for her in life.

i can’t wait to see how this season unfolds up until she and her choice break up so her fans will stop singing her praise.
