While most people can’t stop talking about Miranda Lambert’s rockin’ new bod (girlfriend looks amazing), we can’t stop talking about her gorgeous retro look at the Grammy Awards last weekend! This side-swept hair and red lip combo is vintage perfection. Here’s how to copy her look.
Start by plugging in a set of hot rollers so that they heat up while you blow dry (we love Remington Ionic Protective Hot Rollers). While it might seem counterintuitive to give yourself a blowout when you’re going to be curling your hair, heat styling is key when creating the deep-side part we see in Miranda’s look. Blow dry your bottom layers as usual, but as you move towards the top and the part you’ve created, use a round brush to dry your hair in the direction you want your curls to fall in.
Once you’ve finished drying, divide your hair into sections so that you can begin curling the bottom layers first. Take 1-1/2-inch sections and spritz them with a medium hold hair spray (try Herbal Essences Set Me Up Stylers hairspray in medium hold) then wrap the hair around the roller and curl it in toward your face pinning it in place at the scalp. Continue this process throughout your entire head. When the rollers cool, you’ll know it’s time to begin unraveling. Begin taking each roller out individually, resisting the urge to mess with the shape of the curls (you won’t look like Shirley Temple for long — we promise!). Once your hair is roller-free, take a paddle brush and gently comb through the curls, sweeping them all to one side. Lightly mist your hair again with hairspray to set, but don’t go overboard, this style is meant to look soft and romantic.
