If there’s one key piece for spring it’s the perfect jacket. While we opt for a trench at work and statement toppers for our nights out, most days we’re living in a military-inspired jacket like this one. It works as a neutral and plays nicely with dressy, sequin pieces and drapey tees alike. We couldn’t resist partnering this version with on-trend boyfriend jeans and bright heels.

We’ve noticed a new silhouette on the block when it comes to outerwear. The cocoon coat was all over fashion week and it’s slowing winding its way into our favorite fast-fashion stores as well. While the silhouette has been on the scene since Balenciaga debuted it in 1957, it’s recently been sidelined by body-hugging car coats and edgy moto jackets. We love the cocoon coat because it’s easy to wear. Plus, it exudes a downtown-cool-girl sense of style. The newest versions for spring come in candy-colored pinks, dusty rose, sky blue, and ivory hues. We’d pair this blue one with a white and black ensemble and some chic blush accessories.

Let’s all agree to just ignore the cold and lingering snow, shall we? We’re focusing our energies on bright new separates, perfectly worn-in denim, and airy accessories. If by any chance you are still dusted in snow (like us, le sigh) pair this bright jacket with a camel or white turtleneck until temperatures warm up.

We get it, Winter, you’re big and bad. You’re a bully of the worst kind–unrelenting–shoving us into the same miles-thick sweaters and clompy boots for weeks on end. We’re so over you. So, instead of indulging you with another post full of warm layers, we’re letting our imaginations turn to that elusive season called spring. We’ve heard rumor that it’s a time of sweet sunshine and mild days. Should this time ever arrive, we’re planning to indulge in our new favorite trendy color–cobalt blue– and some fabulous white boyfriend jeans. Check out more of our favorite cobalt blue pieces, here, and keep your mind fixed on sunshine. (We’re going to will this winter away!)

Despite the forecast for extended winter (thanks for nothin’, Punxsutawney Phil!) the spring trends are rolling out and one of the best is sports-inspired pieces. Not only is this a rare anyone-can-wear-it trend, but also, there are endless ways to rock it. These two looks are our favorite–unexpected sporty stripes make this dress perfect for work or play and we’d wear that jacket with just about everything we own!

As unexpected color combinations go, camel and gray has to be one of my favorites. Pairing cool gray and buttery camel is a study in opposites that really attract. In this particular look you also get the benefit of a dress that can be styled for all seasons. Here we’ve paired it with a button-up and boots for cold weather. For spring, ditch the tights and boots in favor of a pair of chic, pastel heels and a breezy scarf around your neck.

All these heavy winter clothes are staring to weigh us down. Those days of longing to curl up in a cozy sweater by the fire are gone. We’d prefer a breezy dress thank.you.very.much! However, since warm, sunny days are still in the distant future we’re focusing on how to wear our current wardrobes through that frightfully awkward period known as “transitional weather.” The key is investing in one or two gorgeous, statement pieces that not only lift your mood, but also provide a canvas to style both winter and spring outfits around. I mean, can we get a HELLO GORGEOUS to that skirt–just looking at it we feel better already. Pair it with neutrals for winter then step up your fashion game in spring by pairing it with an unexpected complimentary color (we promise purple and peach match, just look here!)
