How to Wear Your Summer Clothes Into Fall

August 9, 2012 at 11:51 am , by

August is here, and it means summer is swiftly coming to a halt. Time to get a few more wears out of those swimsuits before tucking them away. But you don’t have to pack up the rest of your summer wardrobe just yet. Luckily, summer’s bright colors and funky prints are still perfectly hip for fall. So hold on to your maxi skirts, neon colors, and summer dresses: All you need are a few layering pieces for an easy transition into fall. Here are our favorites.

Whether your maxi skirt is long and flowy, pleated, or printed—it’s still usable. Belt your skirt with this classic camel leather, skinny belt. Add a button down cardigan for warmth and accessorize with this brown, vintage bowler hat.

What ever will you do with all those flirty, floral summer dresses? Fear not! Cover those bare legs with a pair of opaque black tights.  Layer it up with a cardigan and treat yourself to a pair of lace-up wedge booties.

Those sleeveless button-ups were a chic way to feel cool and casual this summer. They’re also perfect tops for layering! Add a soft v-neck sweater with your collar peeking out for a stylish preppy look. Or try this pleated lace skirt for some autumn charm, paired with suede wedges.

If you don’t own a jirt (that’s a jean shirt, natch), what are you waiting for? Pair your favorite summery jean tops with a pair of black skinny jeans. Ditch those sandals and finish your look with a pair of printed flats.

All your neon jewelry and glitzy tops won’t go to waste. Don’t be afraid to wear bright colors this fall! Warm it up with a pair of printed pants and a trendy, tailored blazer.
