First came the ballet flats, then the topknots, and with the addition of blush pink this spring, it’s safe to say there’s a dance trend ruling the fashion world. From voluminous tulle skirts to small, romantic details, ballet-inspired pieces add a touch of elegance and feminine flare to any outfit (even if there’s not a graceful bone in your body!).

In just a few short years Anna Kendrick has skyrocketed from “that girl in Twilight” to big-screen leading lady and high-fashion favorite — she sat front row for Carolina Herrera, Jenny Packham, and Marchesa this year at her first New York Fashion Week! NBD. What’s great about Anna is the way she’s handled her rise to stardom — with enviable quirkiness and humility. But enough about her personality, let’s talk beauty.
Anna arrived at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California vibrant and fresh-faced, with her long brown hair parted in the center and pulled into a romantic side pony. The pale pink lipstick she’s wearing brings a touch of color to her milky complexion (we recommend Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Retsina), and we’re loving the hint of ombre in her textured ‘do. We’ll teach you how to re-create Anna’s sexy, sideswept ponytail here!
Loving Anna’s makeup? This no-fuss beauty look is easier than you think!

Call it a nod to America’s prepster roots–this spring’s biggest trend is “shirt dressing.” Everyone is buttoning up and we must admit we’re smitten. This look is at once comfortable and put-together. Its simplest iteration is the shirtdress–a one-step outfit in the making. This version by Gap is easy on the wallet and you’ll wear it all season long. Plus, can we just note that fabulous bag is from Old Navy!??!?! Talk about stepping up your game!

We sure hope that the Oscar after parties served plenty of food, because a few red carpet show-stoppers were eating for two! While all of the mommies-to-be looked ravishing on Sunday evening, we fell in love with Olivia Wilde’s sharp cat eye and dewy skin (though she does have that whole “pregnancy glow” home-court advantage).Celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis drew inspiration from the 60′s when creating this classic French look, which makes the eye appear bigger and bolder regardless of the shape and size of the lid.
Here’s how to get her look.
As a Revlon Global Brand Ambassador, Olivia rocked the affordable drugstore brand from start to finish. Inglessis began by smoothing Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer all over Olivia’s face and neck, followed by Revlon PhotoReady Makeup in Nude. She skipped blush, opting for an illuminator instead for a smoother look. Next she used Revlon ColorStay Shadow Links in Taupe to create a darker canvas the liner, dusting the shadow from Olivia’s lash line to her eyelid crease. She then used Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black to create the dramatic cat eye. To achieve an even swipe like you see here, you have to work very quickly — the slower your hand, the shakier the application when it comes to liquid liner. She skipped the false lashes and opted for a swipe of classic black. Olivia’s nude lip was created by using a combination of Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Complex (an LHJ editor favorite) and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Cognito.

If there’s one key piece for spring it’s the perfect jacket. While we opt for a trench at work and statement toppers for our nights out, most days we’re living in a military-inspired jacket like this one. It works as a neutral and plays nicely with dressy, sequin pieces and drapey tees alike. We couldn’t resist partnering this version with on-trend boyfriend jeans and bright heels.

As last night’s star-studded pizza party, (er, Academy Awards Ceremony) brought the 2014 awards season to a close, we saw a lot of red carpet trends emerge: Embellished nude gowns, glamorous statement necklaces,’90s power hair, and subdued makeup paired with flowing hairstyles. A few celebrities really blew us away with their striking beauty looks, award-worthy poise, and impeccable head-to-toe styling. Click through for five of our favorites!
We think it’s safe to say that Lupita emerged as 2014’s awards season’s MVP, both on and off the red carpet. The Best Supporting Actress winner looked like a modern day Cinderella in this custom Prada gown in powder blue, said to be reminiscent of the starlet’s hometown, Nairobi.
