If you’ve opened up your Internet browser at all this week, you probably already know that Emma Stone has been straight up killing it while promoting her latest film, The Amazing Spiderman 2. While we love all of her recent red carpet looks, the vintage-inspired curls and pastel blue eyeshadow Emma rocked in Germany had us completely smitten.
To create Emma’s soft, brushed out tendrils, start by creating a deep side part in your hair and wrapping small sections around a 1-inch curling wand (we love this one by Enzo Milano). You’ll want to wrap these curls in towards your face, even though the motion feels a bit counter-intuitive. When you release the curl, hold the rolled hair in place with your finger and pin it (you can pick up inexpensive curl clamps at your local beauty supply store, or here at Sally Beauty). Work though each layer of your hair until you reach the top, where your final curls should stop about two or three inches from your part. Give the curls about 15-20 minutes to cool completely before you begin to unravel them. After you’ve removed all of the pins, flip your head over and gently run your fingers through your hair. If you still see more coils than you do soft, conjoining waves, run a soft-bristled brush through your hair. Slide a bobby pin above the arch of your eyebrow (depending on which side of your part contains more hair) to secure the look. Set with a light-medium hold hairspray.
If you love Emma’s pastel blue eyeshadow, we’ll show you how to rock a similar look here!

While there are plenty of contenders, we consider Camilla Belle a best-brows-ever veteran — a title she so graciously preserved at the premiere of Cavemen in Los Angeles last week. Dewy skin and minimal eye makeup balance the ferocious vibes cast by her choppy bob hairstyle and bold, nearly-matte lip. If we had to guess, we’d say her pout was inspired by Pantone’s color of the year, Radiant Orchid (we recommend trying this matte lip gel by Marc Jacobs Beauty — you’ll get the pigment of a matte with the comfort of a gel). The entire look is strikingly sexy and fashion-forward without overdoing it.

If we can put forth just one prediction for the most popular hairstyles of spring, we’ve got a pretty good front-runner: Messy, romantic updos. Sandra Bullock is just one example of a celeb hopping on the messy-pretty hair train, as many leading ladies are ditching their flat irons and opting for a more undone take on classic romantic hairstyles. We’ll teach you how to get in on the trend.
If your hair is naturally curly, let it air dry and embrace it’s messy texture. For straighter hair, you want to curl your whole head with a 1-inch curling iron (we love this one by Conair), wrapping hair so that it curls back, away from your face. Once you’ve finished, run your fingers through your hair from the crown to mid-length, de-structuring some of the curls. Part your hair horizontally from ear to ear about 2-inches or so from the crown, sectioning off the front part with a clip (you’ll work more delicately with this section later) and teasing the hair behind the part. Once you’ve created a heightened foundation, return to those front pieces that you sectioned off and lightly comb them back from your hairline to blend in with the heavily teased section. Here you can loosely concentrate around your natural part to create some direction like we see in Sandra’s style. When you’re satisfied with the volume, loosely twist your hair into a bun or ponytail and secure with an elastic (or bobby pins, if you’re rocking a shorter style). Take the pointy end of your teasing comb and gently lift random sections of hair at the crown to create more piecey-ness. Mist your entire head with a flexible-hold hairspray (try Matrix Total Results Amplify Volume Hairspray) to set the style.

Comedy’s leading lady surprised us this week by chopping her long brown locks into a short, structured bob, and we’re totally into it! Kristen’s high cheekbones are definitely suited for an above-the-shoulder haircut like this one. The rich chestnut color compliments her fair skin, while the red tones throughout her hair make the warm makeup on her cheeks and lips stand out. To achieve a similar look without visiting a salon, we’ll walk you through Kristen’s beauty look.
Start with a primer and follow up with your favorite foundation (we love NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation for a matte look and Tarte Smooth Operator Natural Tinted Moisturizer for lighter coverage). Apply a neutral shade of eye shadow all over your lid and lightly swipe on some mascara—one or two coats will do, you want your blush and lip color to be the main attraction here. Next use a terra cotta blush like Sephora Collection Colorful Blush in Coral Crush to create the warm glow Kristen’s got going on. Concentrate most of the color onto the apples of your cheeks before drawing the brush up your cheekbones toward your temples. To up your glow-factor, highlight your T-zone and cheekbones with an illuminating powder. Finally, swipe a strawberry pink lipstick on to compliment the warmth in your cheeks–try Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart.

When we spotted Rose McIver’s stunning look from the LA premiere of “The Truth About Emanuel,” visions of New Year’s Eve danced in our heads. Her gorgeous, festive crown braid and messy updo paired with a heavily lined upper lash line, doll lashes, and a statement lip is exactly what we hope to be sporting when 2014 rolls in.
To get Rose’s look, start with a primer (we love Hourglass’ Veil Mineral primer) and a medium-coverage tinted moisturizer with a dewy finish (try Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup ). Cover your eyelids and under your brow bone with a sheer, peachy eyeshadow such as Nars’ Single Eye Shadow in “Night Star” and line your upper lash line with liquid eyeliner. Then, coat lashes with mascara. Next highlight your cheekbones, inner eye, and Cupid’s bow with an illuminating powder such as Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powder in “Ethereal.” Finally, line your lips and fill them in with a pop of pinky-red color such as Sephora Collection’s Lip Last in “Daring Pink.”
