Go Ask Gab: Colored Denim For Fall

October 25, 2011 at 10:05 am , by

Quite possibly one of the easiest ways to look stylish right now is to wear a pair of colored jeans. Paired with a chunky neutral sweater (only those truly daring should mix bright colors) or a jacket or blazer, they’re the perfect go-to fall look. Red seems to be the number one color right now. The pair pictured are from American Eagle and also come in pink. Too bright? J Brand has a ruby colored flare that is more user-friendly! Another safer color is army green, like these soft skinnies from Henry & Belle – they’re just like your summer cargos. Shades in a blue family are always a great choice too. These royal blue jeans from Old Navy and this turquoise pair Madewell are perfect for all four seasons. And if you are looking for a serious variety of colors your best bet is Joe’s Jeans. They make 55 — yes 55 — colors! It might take some confidence to rock them but trust me, it will be worth it!

Go Ask Gab: My Inexpensive Jean Guide

Whenever anyone asks me advice about jeans I always tell them that I have never bought a pair that were over $100. And it’s the truth. Although I live in jeans, I personally can’t justify paying a lot for them — shoes, on the other hand, are a different story! Here is the list of my favorite stores and my picks for their best jeans.

Mavi: Tons of styles and washes. Gab’s pick: I’m living in Serena skinny jeans. They’re super stretchy and comfortable.

Old Navy: All their denim is under $35. Great for the trendy styles that you can buy and not feel guilty when you don’t wear them next season. Gab’s pick: The distressed skinny — an update to the boyfriend jean craze of ’09.

Levi’s: The brand that invented jeans in 1873 continues to  make not only the basics but fashionable styles at amazing prices. Gab’s pick: Curvy straight leg is perfect for dressing up or dressing down.

American Eagle: The majority of their jeans are under $50 (most are under $40). Gab’s pick: White boy-fit jeans are a great addition to your wardrobe.

J.Crew: A tall friend of mine informed me that they are great for taller ladies. Gab’s pick: The white boot cut is narrower and classically chic.

Gap: Denim is what they do best. They also have petite and tall sizes. Gab’s pick: Light wash boot cut jeans are very flattering, and the lighter color is perfect for summer.
