Jennifer Hudson’s Goes Bold with Blue

December 12, 2013 at 8:00 am , by

Ms. Hudson is looking incredible these days– and making some fierce fashion and beauty choices to boot! She rocked this bold, cobalt eyeliner and nude lip at the American Music Awards and it was one of our favorite beauty moments of the night. We’ve been on the bold liner bandwagon since we spotted Stila’s electric blue liner on the models at Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2013 NYFW runway show. This look is easier to pull off than you might think and there’s a blue for every skin tone. The key is to keep the rest of your makeup natural so your eyes can take center stage. To learn how to create this look, click here.

Monday Beauty Bargain!

March 14, 2011 at 9:30 am , by

Tarte 8th World TSV FINALI don’t usually get excited about Mondays, unless there’s a beauty bargain to score. Today I’m in luck because one of my favorite brands is offering a big one: Tarte’s 8th World Wonder, a seven piece beauty kit (a $175 value), is $48.36 today on QVC. The clock is ticking though; after midnight, the price goes up to $58.

I love this deal because the kit comes with everything you need to look amazing for spring, including shimmery pink blush, lipgloss, eyeliner, foundation, mascara, eyeshadow and a luxe powder brush. And you can use the chic makeup bag to hold your new goodies! I may even use it as a cute clutch for a night out with my friends.

If only everything in life could be this practical, and come in such cute packaging!

Three Ways To… Look Your Best for the Super Bowl

January 31, 2011 at 9:30 am , by

ss_101361509[1] Being from Boston, I stay true to the New England Patriots, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be kicking back this Sunday to watch the most important football game of the year. Whether you’re cheering on your favorite team or just watching for the fun of it all, Super Bowl events require a different, more casual, beauty preparation. Here are three ways to sport a great look for the big game:

If you’re a fan, represent! Use eye liner to show your pride by wearing team’s colors. Bright yellow and emerald green might look silly as an eye shadow, so keep your makeup from looking garish with a slick of colored eyeliner across the upper lash. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes, $17, has a fantastic assortment of shades. You’ll feel festive and fellow fans will appreciate the statement.

Any occasion taking place around the television shouldn’t involve too much work. It’s better to go for a more relaxed look and pull back your hair. Hair ties and headbands are effortless. Differentiate this style from your gym ponytail by using a curling iron to create loose waves, or go super-sleek with a flat iron.

Keep your lips simple. Traditional football cuisine can get messy. Rather than constantly wiping and re-applying, wear a gloss that’s easy to smooth on without missing a moment. With a variety to choose from, Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer, $5, works as lipstick and balm in one by both coloring and moisturizing lips.
