Whether you’re headed home from the holidays, leaving on a vacation, or skipping town for New Year’s Eve, we believe dressing to go to the airport should involve more than a track suit and sneakers. Bare with us–you see, by dressing in a casual-yet-stylish way, you’re actually multi-tasking. You’ll be able to pack more in your carry-on since you’re wearing one full outfit and you’ll look fabulous in case you land and head straight to an event. The key to this look is simple pieces you can layer and hard-working accessories like a cashmere scarf for chilly planes, a big bag for electronics and essentials, and a watch to keep an eye on your departure time.

In our February story, we answered all your burning fashion questions and one of them was about lace. Lucky for you fashionable folks, there are lots of lace options that are pretty and fun (not skanky and trashy, we promise!).
(For credit info on this pic, click here.)
Let’s take a peek at some other lacey numbers available for your shopping pleasure.
I can think of endless layering possibilities for this eyelet lace tank from American Eagle.
At Piperlime, you can pick up this navy blue (swoon!) Joie top on sale!
I have these lace capri pants from Ann Taylor in navy and I loooove them. The fit is amazing!
Love this lace collar tee from Madewell.
Lace ballet flats from Loft. Yes! And 60% off? Yes! Yes! Yes!
And who wouldn’t love a little trompe l’oeil dress from J. Crew?
This lace skirt from Anthropologie is super pretty in that berry color.
It’s no surprise that Anthro has tons of lace. I love the idea of something that sweet and feminine on a comfy sweatshirt-style sweater.

There are so many great sales going on right now (click here for links to Loft and Ann Taylor‘s 40% friends and family sale! Through April 22nd only) but I figured I’d take you on a little shopping tour of my favorite place to score a deal: J Crew. Through tomorrow, you can use code MUSTHAVE to get an extra 30% off all final sale items so those are the prices I’ll be quoting. Check out these deals:
1. Peplum Fresco Floral Top – At a sale price of $140, it’s still not exactly cheap but if you consider that this ultra-stylish piece from J Crew’s coveted Collection line was originally $350, then I think it’s time for me to figure out how I can hide the credit card bill from my hubby.
3. Ruched halter tank swimsuit – Without a doubt, this is one of the most flattering bathing suit shapes. Halter neck + ruched tummy means I look like I actually stuck to my diet. And at $42, it’s a far cry from the original sticker price of $82.
4. Cafe capri pants in abstract leopard – Not for the faint of heart (or the thick of thighs!), these pants will be so cute in the summer with just a t-shirt and sandals. ($56, down from $148)
5. Merino boyfriend sweatshirt – For $35 (down from $89.50), you can have a jump on next fall’s wardrobe.
6. Taryn Gown in ivory – Need a wedding dress for under $200? Well, this one is $140 because – yes – J Crew has everything….
7. Leopard printed ipad case – I don’t have an ipad but if I did, this baby would be mine. (It’s been on sale forever. Why is it not selling out? It’s only $7!)
Happy sale shopping!

Ok – I know I’ve written about my love of J Crew in the past – many, many times – but when a brand is that good, I need to talk about it a lot. There are many reason to love J Crew – the full breadth of products that are offered, the classic-with-a-twist designs – but the biggest reason for me is the sales.
Believe me, if you really want something from J Crew, don’t wait! I highly recommend ordering it when it’s full price. I did this recently with this dress. I saw it in the store, gasped, and swiftly ordered a petite online. It’s just so me – pink and striped. Does it get any better? But there are also the times – quite often for me – when you just want everything in every color. And this is where the sale is very helpful – it helps you edit down.
Last fall I was dying over about 7 different pairs of shoes from the line. But they were mostly high-heeled sandals and I wasn’t about to spend a fortune on sandals in the fall. So, for over 6 months, every single time I got one of those beloved “take 30% off of sale items” emails (sign up for them here), I would go to the site and type “love-me-knot” into the search bar to see if my faves were on sale. And I waited and waited and waited. And finally, they went on sale. I just ordered them the other day for a whopping $91, instead of the original $265. Not bad, huh? (It’s almost like I got the dress for free!) And through tomorrow, you can use code MUSTSHOP to get 30% off of final sale items too.
So, tell me…what deals have you scored from your favorite store?

If you’ve ever read my blog posts before, you’ve certainly noticed that I have a major crush on J Crew. In fact, many days, I look down at my outfit and it’s a little “J Crew-heavy.” Example: Today’s ensemble is jeans, a t-shirt, a cardigan, a necklace and a blazer — all from J Crew. (Sorry I can’t help it!) But I’m not here to write another ode to the Crew. This blog is about Madewell, J Crew’s little sister. And she’s all grown up!
Today we went to the Madewell fall ’11 preview and it looked fantastic. Sure, the jeans and tees that we’ve always loved are still there but now there are more polished pieces, like the beautiful long skirt pictured here.
But as you know, I do love a good sale so here are a few of my picks from madewell.com that will make you feel like you’re getting a steal.
This fringy scarf is so fun, it’s almost like a necklace. And at $19.99, down from $58, how can you say no?
Legging jeans – down to 29.99 from $98.50 should be enough to make you say “Yes, please!” but I’ll also mention Madewell’s “Genius Jeans Guarantee: Free shipping and free returns on all jeans, all the time.” There’s nothing wrong with that.
A silk georgette floral print dress for $134? Amazing! Even better since it kinda looks like the D&G one that Emma Stone is wearing on the cover of Glamour. Except that one sells for for $1,395!
So, for now, we’ll have to wait til fall for that gorgeous long skirt. But hopefully you can find something else fun on madewell.com in the meantime. Happy shopping!

I am so sick of tights. And boots. And scarves and hats and gloves and coats and sweaters. It’s been a tough winter here in the northeast and it’s really taken a toll on my look. I mean, how much longer can I rock this worn jeans-blouse-cardigan-boots ensemble before I get my fashion license revoked? Or the boots-tights-dull dress look? Please, make it go away!
I’m embracing the season today by doing a little online window shopping for a springtime favorite: dresses. Whether they’re bright and flowery or simple and jersey, you simply can not go wrong with a dress in the spring. Sure, you’ll need great shoes and some fun jewelry but then you’re done. And you’ll look a heck of a lot better than I have this past winter.
I picked all these beauties from some of my favorite brands: J Crew (don’t get me started or the lovefest will go on and on), Loft (last year’s favorite jersey dress came from here so I’ll be back again), and Shopbop (I love that I can look for Club Monaco, AKA New York and Rebecca Taylor all in one place). The only question is…which one do I get first?
So, tell me…are there any spring dresses you have your eye on?
