Some women don’t mind splurging on a good pair of jeans, especially if they are very flattering to your figure. Others refuse to pay more than $50 bucks. Whatever your school of thought, there is a lot happening with denim this fall. Check out the hottest trends and some affordable classics.

In my opinion, jeans are the second hardest thing to shop for (bathing suits are the clear winner). There are tons of brands, tons of styles, tons of fits — it can be hard to figure out what works. Well now there is something that will help: Macys.com paired up with True Fit technology to create a system matches your body to the perfect pair of jeans.
This is how it works: You build your profile by identifying what brands already work with your body and answering questions about your body type. You then shop as normal and the True Fit Recommendation engine tries on the jeans using a variety of algorithms (yes… it uses math to get the perfect jeans to you — it has come to this!). So when you browse to a pair, you will see how True Fit rates it for your body. It also saves your profile so you can always go back and buy more. The variety of brands and price points is awesome too — everything from Joe’s Jeans, 7 for Mankind, Levi’s and Calvin Klein.
I’ve tested it and it’s pretty great and easy to use! Now I wonder if they can use math to find me a the perfect bathing suit?

Quite possibly one of the easiest ways to look stylish right now is to wear a pair of colored jeans. Paired with a chunky neutral sweater (only those truly daring should mix bright colors) or a jacket or blazer, they’re the perfect go-to fall look. Red seems to be the number one color right now. The pair pictured are from American Eagle and also come in pink. Too bright? J Brand has a ruby colored flare that is more user-friendly! Another safer color is army green, like these soft skinnies from Henry & Belle – they’re just like your summer cargos. Shades in a blue family are always a great choice too. These royal blue jeans from Old Navy and this turquoise pair Madewell are perfect for all four seasons. And if you are looking for a serious variety of colors your best bet is Joe’s Jeans. They make 55 — yes 55 — colors! It might take some confidence to rock them but trust me, it will be worth it!

I need new jeans. Does that ever happen to you? All of a sudden none of your jeans are working for you anymore? Perhaps it has something to do with all the winter/stress weight I’ve gained, but we’ll just ignore that fact for now, ok? OK?!? Moving on…
I’ve decided to check out what the masters of denim have at the Gap. And sure enough, they have just what I’m looking for: a slightly-faded but not-too-distressed, kinda-baggy but not-too-boyfriendy, ready-to-roll-up pair of jeans. Love it. Granted — I should get my bum down to the store to try them on — and I will, but for now let’s just look at the website and dream that they’ll actually look like that on me. I should mention that like all denim brands, Gap is making a big push for the flare. You can find lots of them here. I think they’re adorable but not for someone who is 5’1″ like me.
While I’m shopping, I think I’ll snag this cute stripey top — one can never have too many stripes. And I’ll also be picking up this navy cardigan (not pictured) because if you know me, you know a navy cardigan is my best friend. Navy with all those browns and camels, you ask? Why yes, I think I will.
A little place I always visit on gap.com is the shoe section where sometimes you can pick up some web exclusive designer shoes like these killer wedges (Bonus: They’re on SALE!). And my new favorite place on the site is the GapMag, a brand-spankin’ new blog that features all kinds of cool insidery stuff. My favorite: the outfits spotted on fashionable Gap staffers at the Gapeteria.
And since the sun rises and sets with sale prices (at least in my opinion!), you can get 25 percent off your online purchase through Feb 26! Use code GAPSAVE25. Details here.
So, tell me…how do you like my spring-ready look? Have you picked up any new jeans lately?

Pants are big for fall, which I know is silly to say because obviously unless you’re Lady Gaga pants are always “in.” But seriously, they are very relevant this season.
Cropped skinny pants are also a cute option. J. Crew has a great selection of pants they call “Minnies.” Wear them with heels or oxfords for a very chic look!
The military trend is huge for fall. There are lot of army green pants and cargos hitting stores. These MICHAEL Michael Kors twill cargos look super comfy. So do the caravan pants from Madewell. I love the look of cargos paired with a navy- and white- striped tee or sweater.
And of course, jeans are always in style. Like ‘em or not, skinny jeans are still big (I refuse to use the word jegging) but wide leg jeans are in too. Talbots and Tory Burch have some great styles, and we are loving the Levi’s new curve ID line.

Whenever anyone asks me advice about jeans I always tell them that I have never bought a pair that were over $100. And it’s the truth. Although I live in jeans, I personally can’t justify paying a lot for them — shoes, on the other hand, are a different story! Here is the list of my favorite stores and my picks for their best jeans.
*** we are currently offering a 20% coupon code for Mavi jeans on our Facebook page!***
Old Navy: All their denim is under $35. Great for the trendy styles that you can buy and not feel guilty when you don’t wear them next season. Gab’s pick: The distressed skinny — an update to the boyfriend jean craze of ’09.
Levi’s: The brand that invented jeans in 1873 continues to make not only the basics but fashionable styles at amazing prices. Gab’s pick: Curvy straight leg is perfect for dressing up or dressing down.

Hi! I’m Sue and I’m the Fashion Editor of Ladies’ Home Journal. I can’t tell you what to buy for fall (well, actually I did) but I figure I could tell you what I’m going to buy for fall and that way we can get to know each other a little better.
Here are some of the things on my list.
Navy boyfriend blazer: I’m opting for this shorter version from the GAP (sold out online but still available in stores) because it’ll be better for my 5’1″ frame. Navy is perfection to me, and I’ll wear this little number with jeans and tees, over little dresses, and maybe even with a mini skirt and boots. It’s the perfect ‘transition to fall’ piece.
Denim shirt: I already got one from American Eagle—gotta love early fall deliveries! I’ve worn it with a gold mini for a little contrast and this winter I’ll wear it with everything from jeans and a blazer to dressy skirts.
