There’s no question about it: Lupita Nyong’o was positively glowing at the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala. The 12 Years a Slave actress was announced as a BAFA Rising Star Award nominee this week, but this look makes her a beauty award winner in our book!
To create a similar look, start with an all-over primer and follow with a tinted moisturizer or lightweight foundation (since you’re going for an all-over glow, you don’t want to go too matte with your base). You’ll want to keep it simple in the eye-makeup department; lightly dust a shimmery pale shadow from your lash line up to your brow bone. Next, take a highlighter pencil and line your inner rims for some extra sparkle (we love Make Up For Ever Eye Pencil in White). Skip your typical eyeliner routine and swipe on a couple coats of lengthening mascara instead. Swirl a pink cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks and follow by a dusting of illuminating powder over your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose (try Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in “Lightscapade”.) A sheer red lipgloss will give your pout a subtle pop of color that stands out in a big way against the rest of your minimalistic makeup. If you really want to work this look, slick your hair back and let your fresh face take center stage, Lupita-style .
