How to Pull Off Kiernan Shipka’s Perfect Sleek Ponytail

February 27, 2014 at 9:11 am , by

While most people consider ponytails to be more weekend appropriate, Kiernan Shipka proves just how fashionable and classic the look can be. The Mad Men star (yes, that’s smart-mouthed Sally Draper all grown-up) pulled her locks into center-parted, high-shine pony, showing off her gorgeous glowing skin. Want to take your ponytail to the next level? Check out this post from Gloss Daily, where we show you how to style the perfect high ponytail with help from a star stylist.

The best way to compliment this hairstyle is to create a natural makeup look, which we break down for you in this step-by-step video tutorial. Simplicity is key in this less-is-more look–after season upon season of long, flowing waves, it’s time to show off that pretty face of yours!

How to Create Cobie Smulders’s All-Over Rosy Glow

February 6, 2014 at 8:00 am , by

Cobie Smulders stunned at The LEGO Movie Premiere in Los Angeles last weekend with an all-over rosy glow and piece-y short hair. Since she plays one of the most down-to-earth chicks on television (her How I Met Your Mother character prefers Scotch to champagne and Netflix to date night), we’re not surprised by Cobie’s ability to infuse a subtle edginess to her natural girl-next-door vibe.

Here’s how to get her look:

Start by smoothing on a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer, followed by concealer to brighten up dark under-eye circles and hide blemishes. Lightly dust a neutral matte eyeshadow (try this one by NYX Cosmetics) from your lash line up to your brow bone or leave your lids completely bare. Next, swipe one coat of clear or brown mascara over your lashes for subtle definition. To get the same all-over rosiness that you see on Cobie, you’ll want to pick up a stain that can be used on your lips and your cheeks (we recommend this one by Stila in Cherry Crush). To flush your cheeks, dab three pea-sized dots where you would apply a powder blush, starting at your apples and continuing upward toward your temples, blending gently with your fingers. Next, apply the stain evenly across your pout. If you prefer to use two different stains, try Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Courture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain in Rose Vinyl for your lips. To up your glow-factor, dust an illuminating powder down the bridge of your nose and over the stain on your now-rosy cheeks.
