Warning Signs Parents Need to Know
Although lethargy and loss of interest in once-loved activities are common in both adult and adolescent depression, the similarities largely end there. Here are a few of the ways teens' symptoms differ from those of adults.
Adult Symptoms:- Depressed mood
- Consistent loss of pleasure in nearly all activities
- Decrease in appetite or weight
- Decrease in sleep
- Decrease in libido
- Mood may be unaffected by social situations
- Irritability
- Loss of pleasure in some activities
- Increase or decrease in appetite or weight
- Increase or decrease in sleep
- Little change in libido
- Mood can improve in social situations
