How does your baby grow? To keep track, print out a chart.

At each visit, your pediatrician will document your child's length and weight on a growth chart to determine her percentile rate of growth -- how she compares with other babies her age.

While charting a child's growth is valuable for tracking changes, experts caution that parents shouldn't be overly concerned about their baby's ranking on the charts. Most infants will grow at a predictable rate. A change or backslide in this rate can alert your pediatrician to possible feeding, medical or developmental problems.

To monitor your child's growth yourself, print out these growth charts, which are the same ones used by most pediatricians.
