Nutrition for a Healthy Family
Q. "I can find a lot of sources of information on diet and foods, but these sources are often conflicting. Where can I find accurate health information? Do you know of any good resources I can use to teach my children basic nutrition information?"
A. The American Dietetic Association (ADA) offers the most up-to-date and accurate health information and diet recommendations. The ADA Web site has an entire section devoted to foods and nutrition information, which is available at http://www.eatright.org/Public/NutritionInformation/92.cfm. There are plenty of new Web sites designed to help teach children the importance of a balanced diet and regular physical activity. I recommend you and your children visit www.kidnetic.com. This is an interactive and educational site created to encourage healthy eating habits, to increase physical activity, and to promote family involvement in healthy habits. It has been endorsed by both the ADA and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
