If you're getting a rubdown, make sure your therapist is certified. Only 42 percent of women clients ages 35 to 44 check, says a survey done by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). But experts say certification is important. "An uncertified person may aggravate an injury by increasing inflammation," says Christine Niero, PhD, director of the NCBTMB. To make sure you're getting rubbed right, look for a qualified therapist (there are nearly 70,000 NCBTMB members) near you at www.ncbtmb.com. Or try the American Massage Therapy Association at www.amtamassage.org.
