For most of Reames's life her size wasn't an issue. "I could eat whatever I wanted, including fast food," she says. But when she was pregnant with her first child last winter, the cold weather kept her indoors and inactive -- and she packed on 50 pounds. Though the first 15 came off right after her son, Teddy, was born, she's still struggling to shed the rest.
To slim down, Reames plans to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and fewer processed foods. This working mom's biggest challenges: her busy schedule and low energy level (late-night feedings leave her exhausted). "I don't have a lot of time for myself," says Reames, "but I know I have to plan really well or I'll end up grabbing fast food or eating a granola bar for lunch." Her first step? The non-cook is trying out fast, healthy recipes so she can break her convenience-food habit.
