Don't ignore your heart's desire. These motivational quotes from famous thinkers will inspire you to reach your goals.

"He who begun has half done. Dare to be wise: begin." -- Horace

Think about it: Before you embark on your "success journey," it is a good idea to do your research and explore your options. But be careful. It is easy to get stuck in this "research" phase indefinitely and to keep putting off embarking on your success journey. Thus, the next step that has to be taken is one of commitment. Commit to beginning a specific task on a specific date. Commit to your happiness by always being willing to take that next step. ------------------------------------------------------------

"Do not be too timid or squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Think about it: Every day is an opportunity for you to achieve something wonderful. This something wonderful doesn't have to be big and it doesn't have to be flashy. It should just be something that makes you feel good about yourself and your life in general. The next time you find yourself doubting your abilities, your chances of success, and the wisdom of stretching your wings, ask yourself why you hesitate when every day is an opportunity? When you know that tomorrow is yet another opportunity? ------------------------------------------------------------

"Iron rusts from disuse; stagnant water loses its purity and in cold weather becomes frozen; even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind." -- Leonardo da Vinci

Think about it: It is hard to motivate ourselves to change, to take action and move forward towards our goals when we feel like we are in a rut. When facing an obstacle, get creative. Don't just sit back and watch your dream slip away. Don't let boredom or lame excuses stand in the way of your happiness. Jump-start your dreams by committing to doing at least one thing on a regular basis that keeps you motivated and focused. Whether this means turning off the television in order to work on your project, getting up an hour earlier to exercise, or attending a career-related seminar or conference, do it. Do whatever it takes to stay in your own game. ------------------------------------------------------------

"Even the lowliest, provided he is whole, can be happy, and in his own way, perfect." -- Johann Von Goethe

Think about it: Are you the person you want to be? Are you happy with who you are? Do you feel as if your life makes sense and that you are living a whole life -- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually? If not, what do you need to do in order to live a whole life? To be the best you that you can be? Deep down you know what it will take to be happy. The next step is to act on this inner knowing and make yourself happy. ------------------------------------------------------------

"It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can." -- Sydney Smith

Think about it: How many times have you given up on a goal because you didn't think you had what it took? How many times have you been afraid to do anything about your unhappiness because you didn't think that the little you could do would matter all that much? How many times have you given up before you have even begun? Just one small change, just one small effort is enough to set great things in motion. Success consists of many small steps, not just giant ones. Do whatever you can to further your dreams and goals. Do whatever you can to be the force that moves your mountains. ------------------------------------------------------------

"Each man has his own vocation. The talent is the call." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Think about it: What do you feel that you were meant to do with your life? Where does your true talent lie and are you honoring it? So many of us get caught up in making a living that we forget to make a life for ourselves. And the best way to create a life that has meaning and value is to nurture your spirit. Using your talents allows you to do this. Whether it is painting, singing, cooking, or writing poetry, our lives are made richer when we honor this part of ourselves. When we ignore it however, we stifle our happiness. How can you set your spirit free? How can you honor your inner self? ------------------------------------------------------------

"Clear your mind of 'can't.'" -- Samuel Johnson

Think about it: When we say we cannot we really mean that we don't want to. Because, of course, you are able to do this thing you secretly fear. Telling yourself that you cannot is actually giving yourself permission to fail. Instead of using "can't" as an excuse for not trying, focus on what you can realistically do in the present moment to achieve your goals. When you eliminate "can't" from your attitude, a wealth of possibilities and personal strength become available. ------------------------------------------------------------

"I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

Think about it: It is far too easy to be passive about our happiness and to drift aimlessly through our lives. Don't wait for wonderful things to happen to you. Rather, get in the habit of making wonderful things happen for you. Because a week or so here and a month or two there not spent working on your dreams ultimately can add up to unhappiness. Don't let your happiness slip away from you so mindlessly. Be aware of the direction your life is going in at all times and make sure that you are actively and purposely steering towards your happiness. ------------------------------------------------------------

"Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Think about it: Get in the habit of reaffirming your dreams daily -- of stating your goals and visualizing the results you want. This not only helps keep you focused on your goals but motivates you to act on your dream, especially when things aren't going as planned. Sadly, many of us are afraid to voice our desires, as if the universe will thwart us if we dare to want more for ourselves. Don't cheat yourself out of your dreams. Instead, be brave and boldly say your dream out loud. Trust that the universe will hear you and that it will lend you a powerful hand. ------------------------------------------------------------

"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of." -- Benjamin Franklin

Think about it: How many chances do you get to live your life to the fullest? More than you think. Every day you have countless opportunities for living every moment to the fullest. The secret is to tune in. Tune into your hopes and dreams and take action on them. Tune into your mate when he or she is replaying their workday -- really listen. Tune into your kids when they come to you and ask how much longer you're going to be on the computer -- really be there for them. Really tune into your life and your happiness by honoring the small, everyday moments of your life. ------------------------------------------------------------
