Lighten Up: How to Brighten Any Room on a Budget

In place of the chunky wooden trunk-cum-coffee table, Talley decided to use an airy, gracefully designed folding table from HomeGoods. Talley transformed its original bold red and black paint with a double coat of a deep smoky blue paint from Sherwin-Williams. To add an extra touch of personality, Talley lined the table's edges with gold paint to accentuate its elegant shape. To liven up the sofa's slipcover, which was fashioned from a tan linen fabric piped in a blue-and-cream stripe from Calico Corners, Talley designed a cheerful mix of custom pillows made from various checked and floral-print fabrics in soft shades of blue and pink, also from Calico Corners. A sisal rug from HomeGoods helps to further warm up this seating area, while a classic white pitcher, also from HomeGoods, holds a bunch of bright fuchsia ranunculus from the garden.
