Frank Lloyd Wright suburban house
Modernizing Homes

The most famous architect to contribute plans was Frank Lloyd Wright , who contributed three sets between 1901 and 1907. Although each displayed Wright's signature style of integrating houses into their natural surroundings, the last plan was exceptionally modern for its time. It was "trimmed to the last ounce of the superfluous" by eliminating the traditional elements of attic, butler's pantry, and back stairway. The plans resulted in the construction of an estimated 30,000 homes, prompting President Theodore Roosevelt to remark that Bok was a man "who changed, for the better, the architecture of an entire nation."
