Fabric and Felt Florals

These plain pillow covers get all dressed up with no-sew fabric and felt appliques. We used fusible web -- a craft material that bonds fabrics together when heated with an iron -- to adhere coral-hued leaf forms to a plain box pillow. First, iron a piece of fabric to a sheet of fusible web (following the manufacturer's instructions), which will make the material stiff and easy to cut. Trace your chosen shape onto the fabric and cut it out. Using an iron, fuse the shape onto the unstuffed pillow cover; repeat the process as many times as you like. To gussy up the avocado-green silk cover, we added a sprinkling of white felt flowers. Start by cutting out identical blossom shapes in graduated sizes and arranging them on the unstuffed pillow cover. Glue each down in the center with fabric glue, leaving the "petals" unglued at the ends. Small blossoms can be layered atop the larger flower shapes for a fuller look.
