Along with those out-of-date lipstick shades, you could be toting around germs and bacteria in your makeup bag. Time to give it a wash. "If you have a makeup bag that can be washed in hot water, wash it regularly," says Channing Barnett, M.D., co-founder of Barnett Dermatology in New York City and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. "Otherwise, lightly spritz an antibacterial spray, such as Lysol Disinfectant Spray, into the bag weekly." If you're in the market for a new bag, look for one made of antibacterial nylon or with a plastic lining that makes for easy cleaning.
