Top Derm Advice for Dry Skin Issues

Dressy woman with high heels
"My Legs Are Scaly and Itchy"

"I don't shave or use lotion as often as I should in the winter, so I'm constantly scratching my legs."
-Elizabeth Essien, Detroit, Michigan

The Rx: Your legs don't produce much oil. Pair that with major moisture-suckers like low humidity, indoor heat, and hot showers, and they're bound to get dry and itchy. What helps? Dump the bar soap for a creamy body wash and moisturize immediately after you shower, says Dr. Lupo. She recommends creams with ceramides or shea butter (we like Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer, $4). Also, exfoliate dead skin once or twice a week with a gentle body scrub or shave regularly with a hydrating cream instead of gel.
