1. Start with store-bought chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Scoop it into a stand mixer, blend quickly until just soft, then proceed with steps 2 and 3. If you feel more ambitious, make our Rich Chocolate Ice Cream or Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream, churning it in an ice cream machine according to the manufacturer's directions.
2. While ice cream is soft, mix in fruit, purees, or candy, then transfer to an airtight container. To make swirls of hot fudge, caramel, or peanut butter sauce, spoon ice cream into a container, layering it with the sauce.
3. Freeze until solid, then scoop and serve.
