Northern Michigan University student Leora Tadgerson, left and her brother Levi, also an NMU student, speak to Zaagkii Project supporters in July 2009 at the nonprofit Cedar Tree Institute annual Midsummer Festival along the shores of Lake Superior. Native American Leora Tadgerson will continue helping teens protect pollinators during the summer of 2010 and teach the youth to learn the importance of Native species plants including how they are used in her native culture. A member of the Bay Mills Indian Community, Leora Tadgerson of Negaunee, MI spent the summer of 2009 helping teens protect pollinaters like bees and butterflies during the Zaagkii Project in northern Michigan. |
