My Nana volunteers at several food pantries in Lincoln, Maine. She helps out many families who are in need during this economic downfall. My Nana has taken care of one family in particular on a personal level. The husband and wife moved from the hustle and bustle of Boston, MA to a remote, run down cabin in the middle of the woods in Maine. The wife had recent heart surgery which put the family into a major financial deficit. Upon arriving to Lincoln, they visited the local food shelter and asked for help. My Nana gathered her friends and family together and asked for donations such as food, clothes, cooking utensils, etc. to help them get on their feet. This past Thanksgiving, my Nana and Aunt made a special Thanksgiving dinner for the couple. My Nana’s hard-work and persevering attitude is an inspiration for all to see and I hope to one day aspire to half her valor. |
