1. Heat oven to 325 degree F. In a large bowl combine oats, sugar, flour, ginger, salt, and baking powder. In a separate bowl whisk together butter and egg and stir into dry ingredients. Add the sesame seeds and stir until they are evenly distributed.
2. Line a cookie sheet with foil; spray foil lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Drop level teaspoons of dough 3 inches apart on prepared sheet; flatten slightly. Bake until cookies are golden, about 10 minutes. Let cookies cool completely, then peel from foil. Repeat with remaining dough. Makes 5 dozen. To Make These Goodies a Gift::
3. Because they are fragile, these cookies need to be packaged carefully. A thin, oval wooden box such as those used to store European butter or cheese will do the trick (ask for them at craft stores or gourmet food shops). Line the box with a layer of tissue paper (we like the sheen of German tissue paper, which you can find at Kate's Paperie at 888-941-9169 or www.katespaperie.com) and nest the cookies in the paper. You can glue a pretty centerpiece on the outside of the box; we suggest greenhouse wreath decorations, Christmas bells, or a holly sprig.
