Greet your guests in a foyer filled with Christmas cheer: a shimmering beaded garland that elegantly climbs your stair's banister, embellished at even intervals with clusters of silver ball ornaments and sprays of fragrant seeded eucalyptus. We attached the garlands to the banister and newel-post with clear fishing wire and we secured oversize glass balls hung from wide ribbons to the bottom of the second floor handrail. This whimsical idea can also work to dress up a window or an interior door frame -- just be sure to hang them high enough so guests won't bump them when passing through. Last, we lined the edge of each step with candles, creating a soft glow for gatherings.
