When she was growing up, Jane Dagmi loved the matching game Memory. Today the Florida-based freelance writer uses the game as inspiration for decoupaged gifts. She collects dominoes ("I call myself 'the Dominotrix,'" she says, laughing) and covers the backs of the pieces with images cut from vintage books, magazines, and cards, turning them into tiny canvases. For her friend Thea Sommer's birthday, Dagmi made a set that represented Thea's strength as a working mom, using images of powerful female figures like queens and cowgirls. "I could feel that she thought of me while making each and every one of those tiles," says Sommer.
