Homeward Bound (a rescue organization composed mainly of veterinary students at Mississippi State University) visits shelters where dogs are likely to be euthanized. They save as many as possible by placing them in temporary foster care. Then the volunteers alert shelters like the SPCA of Westchester, which pledged to find homes for 60 of the dogs saved during this rescue mission.
