Other Ways to Help
- Nearly every state in the United States has a coalition against family violence. Contact your state's association to find out how you can help through volunteering, donations and fundraising. A list of state coalitions can be viewed online.
- If your workplace doesn't already have policies designed to protect and assist employee victims of abuse, encourage management to implement such programs.
- Write letters to the media, your state senator, or congressperson about policies you feel are unjust to victims of domestic violence, or about particular cases in which you feel offenders have been given too much leniency.
- Share your advocacy enthusiasm and knowledge with others.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline: (800) 799-SAFE (7233)
The Feminist Majority Foundation provides an extensive list of hotlines broken down by state.
