A staycation doesn't have to be extravagant to be just what you and the kids want and need. It's as simple and as satisfying as spending a whole day doing something you love that you never have the time for. Maybe it's having a movie day and going to two matinees in a row. Maybe you go to the nearby adventure park for two whole days instead of the usual three-quarters of a day that you squeeze in once a year. Everybody gets to go on every ride and do every activity at the park. More than once!
Wixon likes to tell about the staycation day he spent at the water park with his son who had finally reached the minimum height level for certain rides. It was just the two of them, and on the way home, his son said, "Isn't this the best day ever?" It's true: Just the fact that you're not rushed and can spend time together will make your staycation "the best day ever."
