- Brewster. Breakwater Beach on Cape Cod Bay (off Route 6A) is a great place for smaller kids. During low tide, "flats" of wet sandy beach stretch for nearly a mile. They can wade and look for sea critters without ever getting in deeper than their shins. The beach has restrooms but no snack bars.
- Chatham. There are three family-oriented beaches here. Harding and Ridgevale Beach are in West Chatham (off Route 28). Cockle Cove Beach is in South Chatham (also off Route 28). All three have calm waves, soft sand, lifeguards, and restrooms.
- Harwich. Your best bet is Red River Beach in South Harwich on Nantucket Sound (off Route 28). The beach is wide and sandy, the water warm and wavy enough to be fun. Plus, there's a decent-size parking lot, concessions, lifeguards, and restrooms.
