Negotiating Curves on the Road to Hana (Maui)
Rediscover the pleasures of driving on a road snaked with 600 twists and turns, and peeks into gentle green valleys and coastlines blanketed with black and red sands. Hana Highway -- the famed 35-mile road from Kahului to Hana -- can be covered in two hours, but why rush? Spend an entire day on the rural side of the island with stops at historic sites, hiking trails, and the impressive Twin Falls waterfall. Along the way, make sure to say "Mahalo" to locals while taking in the scent of fresh avocado from nearby fruit stands. After a long day of driving, arrive in Hana and stretch out on the cool rocks of Oheo Pools (pictured).
