Restylane vs. Juvederm

Both products are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally found in the human body. Because of this they have no risk of allergy and are gradually reabsorbed into your body's own supply over time. So what's the difference? "The main difference between Juvederm and Restylane is that Juvederm has a higher percentage of cross-linked hyaluronic acid," explains Dr. Randall Weil, a San Francisco-based cosmetic surgeon. "The higher cross-linking of the material means that the absorption by the body is slowed down and therefore will last longer. Restylane lasts usually up to six months and Juvederm will last anywhere from eight to 12 months."
