What Bobbi Knows
Maximum impact with minimum effort. That's been Bobbi Brown's mantra since 1991, the year she created Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, a line of remarkably wearable makeup colors inspired by her work with supermodels and celebs, including Brooke Shields and Cindy Crawford. To celebrate Bobbi's 10th anniversary of helping women find no-fuss ways to look gorgeous, we've invited her to tell us how she's simplified her own beauty routine. Here, seven great ideas that will make life easier and more beautiful for you, too."I've Learned to Live Without... "
- Lugging all my makeup with me on vacation
My bag used to bulge with eyeshadows, lipsticks and full-size makeup brushes. But when you're traveling with kids, you have to rethink how you pack. Now, I bring my Face Palette, a sleek little compact that holds everything I need -- concealer, stick foundation, cream-stick blusher, two lipcolors, one lip balm and a mini brush.
- Makeup sponges for applying foundation
Whether using a liquid, stick or cream formula, I've learned that you get just as much coverage applying foundation with your fingers; the oils in your fingers help spread the foundation evenly. You may need to put a little extra around hard-to-cover spots, such as areas with spider veins, but that's it.
- An eyelash curler
For lashes that really pop, use the sootiest black mascara you can find; black-brown just doesn't cut it. Start at the roots and roll the wand all the way to the tips to curl. And no matter what you've read, brush a little mascara on lower lashes, too, to keep upper lashes from looking top-heavy.
- A drawerful of lipsticks
All you really need is one -- and it happens to be the shade that closely matches your natural lipcolor. You'll know it's for you if it makes you look great even when you're otherwise completely barefaced.
- Long nails
They're too high-maintenance for me. I keep mine short and gently rounded. Also, chipping goes unnoticed when you're wearing sheer or pale pink polish, which buys me another week between manicures.
I'm careful to wash off my makeup every night. I also slough off the dead cells that can make my skin look dull with a facial scrub a few times a week. If I need a little pampering now and then, I treat myself to a facial mask.
- Professional hair-removal treatments
It's too stressful to be running to salon appointments. I take off any excess facial hair with an at-home waxing kit, and a depilatory cream for my bikini line. I'm well-groomed -- and very happy that I don't have to rush around.
Blend cream blusher on cheeks and into your hairline. Then add a touch to your forehead and chin.Keep It Simple
