Real Food for Healthy Kids

Real Food for Healthy Kids

By Tracey Seaman and Tanya Wenman Steel

Geared towards the health-savvy mom, Real Food for Healthy Kids puts nutrition first, without sacrificing taste. Don't let the cutesy names of the recipes, such as "Ba-Ba Banana Bread" and "Eat-Yer-Veggies Cheese Sauce," deceive you. The recipes were written by serious foodies: Tanya Wenman Steel, the editor-in-chief of Epicurious.com, and Tracey Seaman, a test kitchen director for Every Day with Rachael Ray.

While at times the book seems rather heavy-handed (the first chapter outlines table etiquette for the family, and there are no pictures), the recipes themselves are great. Each recipe lists the nutritional value of the dish, and includes insider's tips detailing the best brand of flour to use, how to adjust recipes according to the humidity, and more. -- Emily G.W. Chau
