"Some schools put so much pressure on the kids to be 'The Best' that I often wonder what the self-esteem levels are like for these children. Yes, I said 'children' -- my daughter is only in sixth grade. It's important to me that my kids get a great education, but I also want them to enjoy the process, develop their own abstract ways of thinking, make friends from all walks of life, learn from their mistakes, and have the confidence to maneuver through the quicksand in a creative enough way to survive."

"I have shown up at car pool in stilettos, at my kids' soccer games in full hair and makeup (eyelashes galore). I've rushed straight to school events from the [Dancing with the Stars] set, dressed to the nines. But then again that's work and not a life choice."

"Last week it took me getting sick to collapse into relaxation mode. I have been going full throttle for some time and my body finally gave in. Thankfully it wasn't a full-blown flu, but just enough to make me housebound. The funny thing was that I actually enjoyed it. I spent three days in my sweats, no workouts, no meetings, just the occasional trip to school to get my kids. It was so relaxing -- morning talk shows, hours in the kitchen, and nowhere to rush off to.

Fit in ten minutes: This month Burke Charvet is launching her first line of fitness DVDs, Tone & Tighten and Strengthen & Condition. We asked her and her trainer, Gregory Joujon-Roche, to set us up with their favorite moves for firming up legs, butt, abs, and arms -- no equipment needed. Do the exercises in a circuit (it takes 5 minutes) without resting, and repeat it once or twice.
