John Ritter (1948 - 2003)

Just weeks after John Ritter died suddenly at age 55 of an aortic dissection, his widow Amy Yasbeck founded the John Ritter Foundation and began looking for answers. "I was told this disease was something you can't see coming, but during my research I kept seeing the word 'genetic,'" she said. Amy has also been working with heart specialist Dr. Diana Milewicz on the John Ritter Research Project, which funds studies that screen patients with a genetic predisposition for the rare aortic disease.
