Ladies' Home Journal 125th Anniversary: Marriage

Marriage has been a topic of intense focus for Ladies' Home Journal from its beginning. Indeed, on the first page of the first issue in 1883, Editor Louisa Knapp shared her idealistic philosophy of the institution with readers: "To insure happiness in married life," she wrote, "there must be perfect support, thorough sympathy as well as sincere affection between the twain who have been made 'one flesh.'"
