Simply Sharon
Ladies' Home Journal: How did you come up with the idea for Osbournes: Reloaded, which debuts this month on FOX?
Sharon Osbourne: Last year the four of us [Ozzy, Sharon, Kelly, and Jack] joined up to host The Brits, the English equivalent of the Grammy Awards. We had such a good time we decided we should do something together again.
LHJ: You've said that no one's ever seen anything like this new show. Should we be nervous?
SO: It's not scary or mean. It's a bit irreverent. Guests like Britney Spears and Elton John will be doing things you wouldn't normally see them do.
LHJ: You're also on America's Got Talent. Do you think you're a better judge than Simon Cowell?
SO: I don't think so. Simon has a great instinct for what the general public will like. I'm more extreme in my taste.
LHJ: Be honest. Do you think David Hasselhoff is the Paula Abdul of America's Got Talent?
SO: Oh, God, yes. He never stops crying. He gets emotionally involved.
LHJ: You recently signed a deal to write two novels. How did that come about?
SO: A book company asked if I'd ever thought about it. I said, "Only if it was really dirty and raunchy." And they said, "That's just what we're looking for."
LHJ: You were diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002. How did that change your life?
SO: It was a shock because there hadn't been cancer in my family. Ozzy had a nervous breakdown. The kids went crazy. That's the thing about cancer -- the whole family gets sick with it.
LHJ: But you're okay now?
SO: Yes.
LHJ: You're open about having had plastic surgery. What have you had done?
SO: My breasts, my face, liposuction, a tummy tuck, a leg lift ... I've had everything you can think of except for my eyes and lips. I wouldn't touch them.
LHJ: Is there any other plastic surgery you would consider in the future?
SO: No, because I've really abused my poor old body that way. I have to respect it and not do any more.
LHJ: What would surprise people about you?
SO: I lead a quiet life. It's really hard to get Ozzy and me out to something. There has to be a very good reason to go.
