Problem: How can I create more space in my messy garage?

Solutions
1. Pitch it. Make three piles: keep, toss and give away. If you haven't used something in the last 18 months, throw it out or donate it.
2. Put stuff up in the air. Optimize available room by installing a few shelves and hooks on the walls or from the ceiling. Hang a row of hooks along the side of the garage for bikes, rakes, and shovels. Use overhead space for sleds, beach chairs, and other seasonal gear.
Create a kids' corner. Designate an area to store your kids' sports equipment and outdoor toys. Keeping these in bins will get them off the floor and allow your child to find a favorite blue soccer ball without your help.
