One of the easiest ways to pretty up a pillow is with inexpensive ribbons and decorative trim. Here, a green-and-white rectangular pillow gets an infusion of style with bright orange and chocolate brown grosgrain strips adhered with fabric glue. Ball fringe added to both ends adds a playful finishing touch: a simple stitch or line of glue will hold it in place. A plain ivory linen pillow cover gets dolled up with a sweet bouquet of flowers fashioned from short lengths of ribbon. To create the blossom, cut several short pieces of organza and silk ribbon in a few springy shades of green and lay them on the front of the cover in a flower shape. Pull a few stitches through the center to hold them in place. The stems are simple stitched lines of green embroidery thread.
