Upgrade Your Flower Arrangements

Don't just fill glass vases with flowers. "Place fresh carrots in a glass vase wider at the top than bottom—so their orange becomes the display stem," says Emily Heston, a designer for Splendid Market in Seattle. "Then fill in the vase top with fresh lilies." Another idea: Fill clear containers with faux robin's eggs, iridescent rocks—or add food coloring to the water, says David Schneider, owner of Schneider Kennedy Design in Wildwood, Missouri. The vase may even upstage the flowers!
