Living Small

When it comes to gardening, I think small. I don't have a yard, but that doesn't keep me from exercising my green thumb. My front porch and balcony are where I experiment -- and those projects provide plenty of fodder for my container-gardening blog, Life on the Balcony. I made one of my favorite planters from an old shipping pallet. (You can usually score one for free from a supermarket or big box store.) Just add soil and plants and you'll have a lush wall of green all summer long.
